Dear Gordon
Please can I have your opinion regarding the Benefits and Work email and the deferral for 2 years.
Will my husband come under this criteria? I sent back his reassessment WCA forms by the deadline of the 6th of feb 2014, with a recommendation from his GP for him not to attend an interview or assessment but to continue in the Support Group because of the severity of his depression and anxiety, his Psychiatrist is of the same opinion and a letter is due to be received with the psychiatrists opinion.
Because of all the upheaval with ATOS I am unsure whether or not to send on his psychiatrists letter when it is received.
Also My WCA assessment is due in Sep and my PIP in August will I come under this 2 year criteria at present being implemented?
Thank you so very much, the whole Process with ATOS is so distressing and is certainly detrimental to one's health.
Kind Regards

Hi d,

As your husband has already started the ESA assessment process, it will progress, so you should send any supporting evidence.

As you have not yet started the ESA reassessment process, yours should be deferred.

Although there are huge delays with PIP, see :

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/2654-bene...sabled-watchdog-says

The issue regarding the deferment of The ESA WCA, is not pertinent to PIP.

I would just like to say that the news regarding reassessments is actually good news, in my opinion. It means those of you expecting to be reassessed can relax for a couple of years. This is as opposed to the stress of filling in another form, going to another medical and potentially having your benefits removed. I am a little confused by the panic it has caused, although I can see how it may be confusing. Luckily Atos have now been very clear on the issue and you can read their statement in the news section.

I know its a silly question but here goes, so someone that their reassessment is in 18 months time, will their's be pushed further along or are they thinking they will have caught up?

Hi M,

At this time we cannot forecast that far ahead :

If you read this extract :

"“The scans will be managed centrally and will result in a reduction in the number of Work Available Reports.

The DWP mole informs us that the scan has caused reassessments due in late January through February to be moved on by two years. The same scan is due to be run each month throughout the year."

From the News Article :

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/2648-repe...ferred-for-two-years

It appears that they can't forecast that far ahead, either.

After all, we may have a new Government in power by then.
