Andrew,

It can easily take inbound letters to the DWP 10-12 days before they are actually in the hands of the person to who they are addressed.

Outbound letters probably take 3-4 days before they are actually posted depending on the content.

They may expect us to answer by return of post but they certainly do not do so themselves.

Oh yes thank you for pointing that out - we forgot about the response times - Wishful thinking and guilty of being very naïve !.

Following on from previous posts I would just like to add the following update. On behalf of my Son ( who is currently in hospital ) I am trying my best to keep on top of what is now quickly developing into a major long drawn out saga. I had originally hoped that after speaking on the phone to the DWP several weeks ago that this matter had been quickly resolved however this does not now seam to be the case. I have just received letter from DWP which totally ignores my previous two letters and also makes no reference to my previous telephone conversation and also no reference to the ESA 50 that was sent to me so quickly after my previous telephone conversation !- I have been sent a ESA5 04/13 questionnaire ?. My son is currently getting ESA CB - Support Group. I am going to return this latest form shortly however, I have to really wonder where this is going and motives. My son gets sick pay under a group Income protection Policy. He does not pay any premium and it is a Group scheme and he has absolutely NO input to the scheme. The scheme is administered by UNUM and he is assessed once a year and that is due to be carried out shortly !. I can only do my best, make sure everything is recorded and documented correctly - we have nothing to hide - hopefully everything will work out for the best.

Tic Tac's father

You need to contact the DWP to let them know that he is currently hospital.

I'm a bit confused you say he received an ESA50 and that he has now received a second one? Or is this an ESA3 form? The ESA3 is used by the DWP to collect financial information from the claimant.

Was the letter you are referring to sent with this new form, it is likely to be a standard letter, this being the case it would have no references to any of the communications you have had with the DWP.

Sorry my post wasn't very clear. After my initial telephone conversation with DWP back in early November,2014 I/we thought the matter had all been resolved from what I/we were told over the telephone. However, almost immediately ( 3 days ) after the telephone call I / we received a ESA 50 which was totally confusing ! I queried this in writing and referred to earlier telephone call and it is only now that I ( acting on behalf of my son ) have received this new form ESA5 , which as you say asks for financial information, Pensions etc. I was very reluctant to deal with the DWP on the phone however, in view of confusion and now urgency will call them asap.

Thank you

PS: The letters that I sent to DWP were very strongly worded and headed up as complaints so very surprised not to receive a 'personal' reply.
