PIP was created by sharon
Hi, so I had my home visit assessment yesterday and now I'm really worried. I'm changing from DLA as my circumstances have changed even though I didn't want to. Sent my PIP form at Christmas and had the visit yesterday but can't help thinking this is not a good sign as I heard it's supposed to take 16 weeks and longer at the moment. Any ideas how long I will have to wait for a decision? Thanks x

Hi s,

I wouldn't draw any negative conclusions from the fact that your PIP F2F Assessment was carried out within a month or so after returning your PIP forms.

This could be down to the fact that the backlogs are not as big in your area, or they had a cancellation.

Now that the PIP Assessment has been carried out the assessors recommendations will be sent to The DWP PIP Decision Maker.

If you haven't heard anything within 2-3 weeks, you could ring the PIP Helpline for an update :

PIP helpline :

Telephone: 0345 850 3322

Textphone: 0345 601 6677

Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

I do hope that you receive a positive decision, please keep us updated.

Hi
Rang the PIP help line yesterday to be told my case was with the claims manager. Is this normal or should I be worried?
Thanks

Hi s,

No need to worry, "the claims manager" is simply another name for a PIP Decision Maker.

Hi
Thanks for help with my PIP application, had my decision today and got standard rate care and enhanced mobility. I am happy with there decision but there not starting until 4/3/15 as I recieved low rate care DLA. I made my application because my circumstances had changed quite bad. So why has my application been taken from the date I made the application ?
I had a life award on DLA so was told I had to make a new claim to PIP.
Thanks
Shaz

Congratulations on the award.

I am afraid that the PIP Transfer legislation is specifically worded to prevent the backdating of any new PIP award when the claimant is already in receipt of DLA, the argument is that since the primary goal of PIP is to reduce the disability budget by at least 20% (not to ensure that claimants get the help they need due to their problems), many claimants would be faced with an overpayment if backdating of the claim was allowed, the reality is that this could have been covered by less than 20 words in the legislation, but was not.
