Pip medical over and done a week ago. was created by Ellison
I live in Edinburgh, and had my pip medical . Last week. I am moving from 14 years of dla. To a new pip. And was wondering whats the average time of getting a letter or how do I get informed. I presume it's by letter. What's the a average time. Of there replies. As my dla. Run out this week.. It's like waiting on an executioner deciding wether I live or die..

Your DLA will continue in payment until 4 weeks after a Decision is made on your PIP claim.

I am afraid there are no regional statistics for decision times, I would expect it to be 2-5 weeks, but we were seeing times of 8 weeks before Christmas.

Does this mean that PIP will not be backdated if a higher rate is awarded?

Hi,

If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.

This can be done quite easily by following the instructions on this FAQ :

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Yes, unfortunately that is case when transferring over to PIP from DLA.

Back payment of PIP will only occur on a "fresh" PIP Claim.

This scenario is particularly upsetting and just plain wrong when a current DLA recipient with awards of less than HR Care & HR Mobility reports a Change in Circumstances (C in C) with respect to developing a Terminal Medical Condition with a prognosis of 6 months or less, in a "Live PIP Area".

Even though a PIP Special Rules Claim can be made using a DS1500 Form, The Highest Rates of PIP will only be paid from 4 weeks after the date of the PIP Decision.

As you can imagine, this could be awful for someone with a prognosis of 6 months or less to live.

However, these rules are part of PIP Legislation.
