pip claim was created by loulou1
Hi all

I am having problems with my PIP and don't know what to do next feel like I am going round in circles with this complicated system by the DWP.
I applied for PIP in August 2013 had my assessment in March 2014 was turned down in June 2014 so did mandatory reconsideration , in September 2014 was awarded enhanced mobility and was 1 point of the Daily Living. I was going to appeal but was concerned they would look at the whole claim again and may lose the claim completely, so I contacted DWP and as per there letter What happens if your condition changes, this was in October 2014 and was told someone would call me to discuss my condition. I have now rang 5 times and keep getting told someone would call me as it is called a intervention . On the last call to DWP was told oh no that is wrong it is a unplanned intervention and would have to fill in a new form PIP2 like starting again, my PIP is awarded till March 2016 but they will contact me in March 2015 to make sure I am receiving the right level of PIP .

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I do love the way that the DWP have changed all the names of the things they do just for PIP even though they are doing exactly the same as they always have. :(

If your intention was to avoid having the whole claim looked at again then I am afraid you may not have achieved this.

From your post you appear to have asked the DWP to look at your claim again due to a change in your health, this Unplanned Intervention or as we used to call it, Supersession, will result in a new PIP2 being issued and most likely a new face to face. Whilst you can try and limit it to just the Daily Living component I have to warn you that the DWP can extend the review to the whole claim.

As you are reporting a Change of Circumstances you will need to show a documented deterioration in your conditions since you were last assessed and as a result, an increased care requirement. If you cannot show the deterioration (you don't mention it in your post), then the DWP may reject the request without you going through the whole assessment process, I would not expect this to affect your current award.

If you cannot show a deterioration it may be worth your re-visiting the original award via an appeal, which you can still make as long as you can show Good Cause why the request is late, not being aware that you could do this may be accepted as Good Cause.

However, you progress the matter, I would first recommend that you have a thorough read of our PIP Claim guide to see how likely you are to score the 8 points required for a Standard award. See

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

If you have any questions on the above or in you progressing the matter further, then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Many thanks for the advice Gordon, I will read through it all and decide what to do. I wish I had know about this site when I first did my claim ,didn't realise how hard and stressful all this was .
