Great News!!

Thank you to everyone on this site, I could not have done it without your help and support. Well worth the money to subscribe. I now want to go for PIP.

Today I received a letter from Jobcentre Plus. It reads the following:

Important information for ESA Support group customers.

Our records show that as a result of your Work Capability Assessment you have been allocated to the Support group within ESA.

I am writing to let you know that because you are in the Support Group, taking part in Work Focused Interviews becomes voluntary. This means you can choose whether to attend these interviews.

What is a Work Focused Interview?

A work focused interview is a meeting with one of our advisors to discuss the support that we may be able to offer to help you take your first steps back into work.

Do i need to come to the Work Focused interview?

No, you will no longer need to take part in a Work Focused Interview in order to receive the full amount of ESA. If you choose to continue with the interviews you can access support to help you take the first seteps back into work.

Please contact me by 26/05/15 if you wish to attend interviews on a voluntary basis.

If, at some point in the future, following another Work Capability Assessment, you are moved out of the Support Group, you will be required to attend interviews in order to receive the full amount of ESA.. If this situation arises you will be required to attend interviews in order to receive the full amount of ESA. If this situation arises we will contact you and invite you in for an interview.

If you want to know more blah, blah, blah

WHAT I WANTED TO KNOW IS:

1. It has only taken 6 weeks from the first phone call to today to sort this out. I hear alot about the 13 week assessment, so does this mean I wont get the higher ESA money until week 14.

2. Will I receive another letter with more info, like why they have decided what I am entitled to,
I have also seen that they can give a premium amount for certain disabilities so will i get a
break down in a letter.

3. Now I have completed and won my ESA money I am going to try for PIP, can any one give
me any advice.

Congratulations on the award and thank you for your comments about the site.

To answer your questions

1. If this was a new claim and not a re-assessment or transfer from another benefit, the Support Component will be payable from the beginning of week 14 of your claim.

2. From what you have posted the letter you have received is from JC+, you should receive a Decision Notice from the DWP office that dealt with your claim specifying when your award is effective from, you should also receive a payment breakdown letter.

3. Have a look at our PIP Claim guide

Hi mrsb,

You will not be told the recommended length of the SG Award of the reasons why you were placed into the SG unless you make a request for the information.

That's why I gave you a link to : This Post in my previous post.

If you are being paid Contributions Based (CB) ESA any holiday pay, etc should not affect your ESA.

However, to cover yourself it may be best to inform ESA in writing anyway :

Sending Documents to the DWP.
