Pip assessment companion asked to leave ?
Hi nervously awaiting my pip assessment
My friend who recently attended hers, mid way through the assessor asked the companion to leave on pretext of taking some paper work to reception and then my friend had to do part of the assessment on her own, my partner will come with me and would refuse if asked to leave, but for my own peace of mind where do you stand on this issue as the more prepared I am the less nervous I will be as the thought as being alone is scary as I have severe anxiety and depression on top of .multiple psychical illnesses

Under normal circumstances there should be no reason for a companion to be asked to leave the room and they can certainly refuse to do so if it to take paperwork to reception, it is possible that the assessor might ask the claimant if they want the companion to leave if there is any examination although as this is not a medical, it does not usually go beyond checking movement of the limbs, blood pressure and possibly a flow test.
One scenario where the companion might be asked to leave is if they interfere with the assessment, where the claimant might be offered the choice of the companion leaving or the assessment being terminated.
