I an aware that ESA is only paid for 28 days when you are abroad. I love the warm weather abroad and think it may help my symptoms slightly. Is this 28 days cumulative for a year or can I go abroad as long as each holiday is less than 28 days?

Can I also ask re the PIP rules. Is the 13 weeks cumulative over the year or is it per period abroad?

I can't find anything about this with the exception of Carers Allowance which is 4 weeks in any 6 months, but this is more related to the carer taking a break from their duties than specifically being about them going abroad.

Both the ESA and PIP periods are for a single period.

Although none of the documents I read directly address this issue, all of them suggested that where there is an issue it can be down to a Decision Maker as to how they view any particular situation, so if you are thinking of going away 3 or 4 times during the year I doubt that they would view this as a problem, but if you were to punctuate multiple trips by only a short period in the UK then I think it would probably be an issue.

Don't forget, that your going abroad can it self be treated as a reason to review your benefits, if your doing so contradicts the limitations that resulted in those benefits being awarded.
