Hi BeePee,

The Universal Credit roll-out is very much behind schedule. At the moment, and for the foreseeable future, it is only for simple claims. This excludes claimants who are, or will be, on ESA. Therefore it is not yet relevant to our members.

just put my figures into a benefits calculator and I will be £40 less than I am getting now under universal credit so transitionary protection will apply.

my gripe is that any rise in universal credit in future years will be deducted from protected money so in essence I will not be getting a cost of living rise for years

same old Tories always lying when they say no one will be worse off under uc

regards Tango

Does anyone know what will happen with benefits such as PIP and ESA under Universal credit, will things stay the same?

Hi Ob,

I wouldn't worry in the mid to long term, UC will not affect current ESA recipients for some time yet, and PIP will not be affected at all.

I was told by someone who works in our HB office that new claimants for ESA in my area are being put on to UC. I live in Oxford. I was under the impression it was JSA claimants. Is this true or does she have her wires crossed?
