DWP ignoring the facts!

DWP ignoring the facts! was created by Tongey
Going through a process where it is becoming increasingly obvious that no proper investigation of the facts provided has been made.
An extremely poor decision has been notified and we are appealing this; I have arranged for a meeting with a welfare rights specialist to go through all of this next Friday.
I just would like to know; are we supposed to allow the DWP to display such ignorance in the face of actual and physical facts?
It feels that they are allowing us to get into a state of dispair and a free-fall with no access to any proper exit!
Any advice here would be most welcome.

Hi Tongey

You are not the first person the 'notice' that the DWP don't conduct adequate investigation into facts presented to them.

I would keep to your meeting with your Welfare Rights specialist and gather together all their suggestions, all your information about your medical condition, including backup from Consultant/GP, and written decisions/reasons provided by DWP, bundle them all together and present them to your MP, face to face if possible. That way you have to have some sort of a response.

It's about time our representatives were made fully aware of the distress and harm they are causing to people who need their support, not their disregard. Hopefully, your MP will see that this is not an issue that will go away and act accordingly.

Good luck.

Are you referring to any case in particular?

Hi J,

I think shelam is speaking in general with respect to claimants.

Hi Bb,

Tongey is most welcome to respond, however most Welfare Advice Agencies are based locally, so unless you happen to live in the same area as Tongey, it is highly unlikely that their response will offer any meaningful help.

See the following : Where to get advice & Turn2Us Free Advice Finder.

Failing that, try putting Welfare Rights/Advice into Google for your Town, Postcode !!

Just to point out that Legal Aid in no longer available for Welfare Benefits Advice & Representation in England & Wales other than for appeals to The Upper Tier Tribunal (UTT) as a result of an adverse ruling at The First Tier Tribunal.(FTT)

So you are looking for an agency that is willing to offer free advice.
