I would just like to thank the talented people who have written the PIP guides of how to try to make a successful claim.

I had an indefinite Low Rate Care and High Mobility award under DLA. The DWP started to transfer my area of "indefinites" to PIP in March/April this year.

I was absolutely convinced I would lose the care rate altogether and after reading stories on double amputees not getting Enhanced Mobility on PIP, I was certain I would lose my motability car too. In fact I had my husband clearing out the car last week and we were putting in place very limited funds to buy an old second hand car, as we can't do without one. I was already contemplating a life without a car, more life revolving around my immediate locality and no day trips out. We live in a rural and coastal part of N Wales with very expensive buses I cannot negotiate or depend upon.

My home assesment was done in April with a very good assessor who was courteous and understood my difficulties with mobility especially. She explained just how far 20 metres was and that my front door was 4 metres approx from my front room, and watched me walk to the door, but I was unable to go further without difficulty.

A tense 7 weeks has passed and today the dreaded brown envelope landed on the doorstep, saying I would get Standard Care and Enhanced Mobility until 2020. The sheer relief was indescribable and the irony is that under Standard Care with PIP I am better off than I was with Lower Rate care under DLA.

Thank you again for all your advice. My annual subscription to this site is worth its weight in gold. You have no idea how much keeping our car has meant to me. I feel like I've won the lottery. I would urge anyone reading this forum to pay the annual site subscription, read through the PIP guides very carefully, and keep returning to them when filling out your PIP claim form and put as much detail in and continue on separate sheets to if necessary. Explain everything in the greatest detail and how it effects your daily living. Tell it like it is and at the assesment whether home or at a centre tell the assessor in detail too.

Thank you immensely!
