Yes you are right it was for PIP re me.
I only presumed they would be kind enough !!!! to do the same for ESA, but apparently not.
However, no harm in trying !!

thanks

Hi pcm,

You are right !

There is certainly no harm in requesting an extension ! :)

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I'll obviously try and get the ESA50 back to them before the deadline but I think I'll might give them a ring and enquire about a possible extension.
My major concern is getting an updated letter of support from my GP in time before Christmas Oh! and also the Specialist I was seeing retired last year. Is it practical to include one or two of my last medical reports from him.

Thanks again

Hi jm,

You can use "older" evidence !

However, if you are to do so it would be important to make comment that your medical conditions and resulting limitations have not diminished since the time of the reports, nor have you been prescribed any new medication or received any other treatments or procedures that have improved your medical conditions therefore diminishing your resulting limitations.

The above being the case of course.

Remember, although providing written confirmation of your medical conditions will help, whether or not you qualify for an ESA award is dependent on you showing that your resulting limitations score the necessary points (15 points cumulatively) under the relevant : Functional WRAG (LCW)Schedule 2 Descriptors and/or fulfil at least one of : The Functional SG (LCWRA) Schedule 3 Descriptors

Failing any of the above you can also qualify via : ESA Reg 29 for entry to The WRAG (LCW)

PLUS Post 28/01/13 Amendment of :

(3) Paragraph (2)(b) does not apply where the risk could be reduced by a significant amount by—

(a)reasonable adjustments being made in the claimant’s workplace;

or

(b)the claimant taking medication to manage the claimant’s condition where such medication has been prescribed for the claimant by a registered medical practitioner treating the claimant.”.

From : www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2012/3096/regulation/3/made

Or

ESA Reg 35 for entry to The SG (LCWRA)

This is where our ESA Guides should help you explain how you do qualify.
