I have been receiving Support for Mortgage Interest payments from the DWP for several years. Due to delays on the part of the DWP, despite repeated requests by me I did not receive the SFMI loan documents for the new loan scheme until June. I signed and returned the loan agreement in mid-June. I heard from the DWP in early August that they would pay me an SFMI loan from 10 April. As I did not apply for a loan until mid-June and it was not awarded until August, my understanding is that the DWP should continue to pay my SFMI as a benefit (not a loan) until at least mid-June (when I returned the loan agreement) and possibly early August (when they informed me that my loan had been approved). Please could you advise if this is correct.

John
I'm sorry but I can't find anything.
The SMI Loan Regulations doesn't appear to cover it as far as I can see, so it will depend on what legislation was used to stop SMI payments and whether it allowed payments where the claim was delayed.
