Need a wee bit advice please re a 'Change in Circumstances'
After assessment for DLA to PIP, my partner was awarded 6 Points Daily Living & 8 Points Mobility. He has a long term permanent spinal injury. Therefore, currently receives Nil for Daily Living & Standard payment for Mobility.
A few months ago, he went totally deaf in his 'good ear'. I say 'good ear', cos he's already permanently deaf in one ear - since a youngster due to measles. A quick GP's visit resulted in him being referred to local hospital for an emergency appointment. Outcome of all this, is he's been fitted with a Hearing Aid and has had several follow up visits to Audiologists, the last one just last week. He's having to just live with this additional hearing loss and is persevering with the Hear. Aid.
As this is a Change in Circumstances' and it doesn't look like there's going to be any improvement with that ear, what is the best way to advise DWP of this?
By 'phone or in writing? Either way, they'll ask for proof, I suppose, and the only proof we've got are his hosp. appointment letters, OR will they send out another BIG form for him to
complete? Now doubt the outcomes of his various hosp. visits will be recorded on his computerised health record. He should, be awarded 2 Points for now wearing a hear. aid, which would give him 8 points Daily Living and get him the Standard payment of that in PIP,
which would be very, very helpful with his finances. .

Thank you - hope to hear from you soon. . . .

Notify the DWP in writing and send the letter using a Tracked post so that you have proof of delivery, the date of your letter sets the date that any new award will apply from.

Reporting a change will result in a full reassessment of his claim, a new PIP2 and almost certainly a face to face to assessment.

The new Decision will supersede his existing one, whatever it is.
