ESA coming to end was created by val
Hi,
My son had his ESA f2f last year and was placed in the WRAG income related group. He never had the jobcentre work interview things, and has just recently started going back to his old job 1 day a week for 4 hours.
This morning he has had a letter saying that he needs to fill out the ESA50 form before the 3rd july again, im taking it its because WRAG only lasts 365 days, so its coming to an end.
Will he have to go to another f2f ? will his money just stop? or will he just be placed into support group income related?
sorry for all questions, but we have no idea how this works.

Is your son receiving Contribution Based ESA, Income Related ESA or a combination of the two?

ESA is an indefinite award with scheduled reassessment so his claim ending but if he only receives ESA(CB) then his entitlement to payment will cease after 365 days unless he is moved to the Support Group or he is also eligible for ESA(IR).

You say he has started working again, has he informed the DWP?

yes he informed them he had started back for 1 day a week about 6 weeks ago now. He is in the wrag group income based esa, and was told when he had his decision that it only lasts for 365 days. I suppose he has to now reapply as the ESA50 form that they have sent is the same as when he first applied for ESA.
It's not just a case of moving from wrag to support then? he has to go through the f2f assessment again and have to wait for a decision...

If he is receiving ESA(IR) then it is not time limited but he is being reassessed and you need to treat it as a new claim for ESA and complete the ESA50 in detail and provide any evidence that you can, even if it was submitted before.
