We received papers for my son to be transferred from DLA to PIP just before we moved house. I gave new address information when I returned the application. Acknowledgement came to the new address and we heard nothing more for a couple of months which was not unexpected. Next thing we got was a letter saying that since we had not provided the additional information requested both his application and his DLA payments were being cancelled. Phone calls to DWP uncovered that they had sent the request to the old address after our redirection had finished so we did not receive it.
Clearly their fault rather than our non-compliance but they said we would still have to wait a year before re-applying. Leaves my son with neither DLA or PIP for a year. Is there any grounds we can use to re-apply sooner?

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
First, you need to request a Mandatory Reconsideration of the Decision to close the PIP claim and the DLA one, based on your post this is clearly an Error by the DWP and you had Good Cause for not providing the information that they had requested.
Secondly, you can and should make a new claim for PIP there is no waiting time and if your MR is successful then the two claims can be merged.
