No increase in PIP as past state pension age? was created by Elizabeth Comley
Got my re assessment decision this morning and enhanced mobility not awarded for the following reason. “ The law says we cannot award or increase the mobility part of PIP for claimants state pension age or over. Whilst I accept your mobility has worsened, I cannot look at your award as this happened after you reached state pension age. Therefore you will still receive the Standard rate of PIP to help with your mobility needs. “
Anything I can do? I was awarded standard rate for both in Sept 2017. In October of that year I had a stroke. I didn’t ask for a re assessment as I was trying to be as independent as I could. My mistake as my mobility only decreased. I reached state pension age in March 2018 ( 4.5yrs later than expected) and had no idea that it would affect the award I already had.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

You would have to show that you met the criteria for the Enhanced award before you reached State Retirement Age but as this is more than 13 months ago and you did not notify the DWP at that time I don't think that you have any realistic prospect of getting the latest Decision revised.
