I have had my PIP review last week and now I have been called into an ESA review... I feel totally stressed I am sick of having to go over the details of my illness all the time and just want to be left to try and live with the condition. It all affects my mental state and I am losing confidence in myself causing me to not leave the house. Why do the two departments not share information so that I dont have to go through it twice in a short period of time. Its bad enough that the PIP said in writing that they would not call me in again until after 2026 and yet here we are 2 years down the line and im called back in. I am still awaiting their decision and figuring I will probably have to go through Mandatory reconsideration again causing more stress. I have been referred to a Mental health team now because I feel paranoid and having palpitations and anxiety this all affects my condition. If I have letters saying by my consultant that I cannot work why do I have to go through the ESA review?

Hi Hoover1

I am afraid it is just part of the system. ESA and PIP are two different benefits which are looking at entirely different things. ESA (fitness to work) - PIP (help required for daily living). Anyone who claims both benefits is unfortunately likely to find themselves in the same position as you. The assessments for each are contracted out to different organisations and therefore they do not have access to each others paperwork.
