Medically retired for 18 years, lost my IB. help

After serious RTA with head and facial injuries I was medically retired. This was done as the problems I was left with would never change. Permanent headaches, which never go only worsen, leaving me bed ridden, brain damage,double vision, vertigo, lower back problems etc. After work capability assessment i scored 0 points, lost my IB and have been deemed fit to work. I am so scared as I can go for days/weeks and not be able to do a thing apart from lie quietly and sleep, my back goes into spasm and i cant sit,stand,lie down or walk. My doctor has advised me to appeal, but who do i get to represent me. I hope someone can help and advise me.

Whilst it is true that people with representation have a higher success rate at tribunal, it is not essential.

Just to add, if you are to appeal using the GL24 form, within one month of receiving the "fit for work" decision, you must also obtain a MED3 "fit note" (sick note) from your G.P. to cover you from the date that your I.B. ends.

Once you have submitted your GL24 and MED3 you will then be entitled to the assessment rate of ESA, until either the decision is changed at the automatic reconsideration stage, or if not then, until the time that your appeal is heard at the Tribunal.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I struggle to take information etc in, what forms do I ask for. I have looked at the link and cant see them. So sorry to be a pain

My GP has given me a MED3 for 3 months, I just dont know what to put on the appeal form, do I go into great detail as to why I dont agree with their decision etc.

You don't need to put a lot of detail at this stage, just make it clear that you don't feel they have taken the severity of your condition into account.
