Another question

Do the DWP tell Maximus the reason why they request them to carry out a f2 f assessment?

Hi J_P,

Your reassessment date will flag up electronically on The DWP ESA systems !!

The DWP ESA WCA Team will then refer/re-refer your file to Maximus who then send the ESA50 to you.

The DWP do not decide whether a face to face is needed, "Medical Services" (Maximus) decide that, once they have received your ESA50 back !

Hi J_P,

Yes, the "assessment" that they speak of is The ESA Works Capability Assessment (WCA) ("Medical")

A WCA "can" involve the claimant taking part in a face to face, but it doesn't have to if Maximus feel that they have enough information to make a paper based assessment.

This is why it is Maximus who decide whether you have to go through a face to face, and not The DWP.

Thanks again bro

Another thing I,m unsure on..Does completed ESA 50 along with medical evidence go back to Maximus or DWP?If it's Maximus do they pass on the medical evidence to DWP and vice versa if it goes back to DWP do they then pass it on to Maximus?

Hi J_P,

1. DWP ESA WCA Team refer you to Maximus.

2. Maximus send you an ESA50

3. You return ESA50 to Maximus by deadline date given.

4. Maximus scrutinise your ESA50 + extra evidence to see whether you need face to face or whether they have enough evidence to make a paper based assessment.

5(a) If they decide that you require a face to face, one is arranged, you take part, and as a result the Maximus ESA Assessor compiles an ESA85 Medical Report.

5(b) If they decide that a face to face is not needed, Maximus ESA Assessor compiles an ESA85A Medical Report.

6. ESA85 or ESA85A including recommendations on what group you should be placed into (WRAG or SG) and the recommended length of the award before your next reassessment are returned with your ESA File to The DWP ESA Decision Maker.

7, DWP ESA Decision Maker looks at all the evidence including your ESA50 + extra evidence, and the ESA85 or ESA85A and makes the final decision !

8. DWP ESA Decision Maker informs you by letter of their final decision.

Obviously, besides the two options of being placed into The WRAG or The SG, the 3rd alternative is being found fit for work.

Although you can be placed into The WRAG or The SG on a paper based assessment alone without having a face to face, you cannot be found fit for work on a paper based assessment alone, you must have undergone a face to face first !

So, no face to face = WRAG or SG award !

Face to face takes place = WRAG or SG award or a fit for work decision !!
