Latest info on my journey re DLA to PIP to PIP.

Friday of last week, 20th Nov.
We had a phone call from DWP Aan 0800 number, wanting to confirm my name for their records. It seems the lady who asked the questions on our 1st phone call on the 17th Nov, had written the wrong name!!!!

She also said on Friday we shall now send you your PIP2 for you to complete in order for a DM to evaluate.
Here we are a good few days later and still not received the form to complete.
This will reduce the time we have to complete the form due to the lateness of us receiving the said form, when it does arrive.!!!

Well here we are on Friday 27th Nov and the dreaded PIP2 Form has eventually arrived.
Date on top of form 20.11.2015.
Date to be returned by 20.12.2015

Therefore with the week delay in it arriving, providing me with less than 3 weeks to complete and return it to them.

My husband and carer will be phoning in for an extension to allow us time to get all the info from GP's/OT and their respective appts and letters to accompany the form to be returned.

I note the ambiguous way the questions are posed along with how one is to respond and can truthfully say they are definitely designed to trip one up.
The old DLA forms were clear and concise in questioning and response but PIP is far from that post.

Good luck to all those who are in the midst of this upheaval.

Good morning,

We have just contacted the DWP re our end date for return of my PIP2 form 8am Mon 30th Nov.

(Received form 28/11/15, form dated 20/11/15, return date by 20/11/15)

Husband my carer spoke to a lovely lady who kindly extended it by 2 weeks taking us up to the 3rd Jan.

She also mentioned if because of Xmas/New Yr time scale if we need a further extension to phone them on the 29th Dec, it would be possible to get a further week.

We asked if this was able to be put in a letter to confirm this phone call and was informed this is not possible.

I have decided to write to them in regards to the phone call and extension of time etc to provide a paper trail.

Helpful, polite and friendly.

Thank you.

I have typed up a letter to send to the DWP re my extension agreement.

Re PIP2
I have an apt with my Occ Therapist Manual Handler to re do a report as the last one was in 2012 for the ESA. Just a few tweaks required 20 mtrs rather than the old 50 mtrs and a few other bits for the PIP2 Descriptors.
One apt with the GP re update of meds and a 2nd one to aid with the PIP 2 form along with draft letters for the GP to play around with for letters of support and if an assessment is to be conducted then it would be prudent to be undertaken at home.

Question.

I have looked into my paperwork, well a huge file really and re looked at the ESA prognosis form dated late 2013 and it is really very useful, I believe.
Under advice, the HCP states the client meets SG criteria as they have severe functional disability. It highlights mobility/incontinence issues and states that the available evidence suggests improvement is unlikely in the longer term. Subsequently under Prognosis it says work is unlikely in the longer term.

Would it be a good move to include a copy of it?

Thank you

PCM

If you have described your problems as long term, then evidence from 2013 should still be of relevance, if not then it is on the cusp of still being relevant, on balance I would probably include it but there are differences in the criteria, especially for continence, so I would not rely on it.
