Confused by ESA letter was created by mumsgirl
As you know I sent away my ESA re-assessment form at the beginning of this month. Today I received a letter dated 24th June saying "your claim for employment and support allowance. a CHANGE in the employment and support allowance rate payable. We have looked at your claim again following a recent change. From 12 APRIL 2013 ...."

Does this mean i've passed without a medical and still in SG??? Why have they used the word changed? And why have they said "from 12 April 2013". It's the exact same letter I got when I passed the last time but it said "from 9 Sept 2011" (which was 3 days after I had the medical on 6th Sep 2011).

I'm worried about this (if I have passed) because firstly (in my opinion) they sent out the reassessment form too early and now they are back-dating it to April??

Or is it basically just the normal letter they send me every April to tell me the rate has gone up but for some reason they have sent the letter late this time and I still have to have to wait for word of a 'medical'?

p.s I know I am supposed to attach this to my ESA thread but I can't find it because it has disappeared from 'favourites', sorry

I would love to be able to give you a definitive answer, but anything I suggest would be at best a guess as there is simply too little information.

I am afraid you need to contact the DWP and ask what is going on.

I will write to them. Who is the best person to write to - the person that sent the letter (but her name seems to be on all the letters), or customer sevices, or a DM manager, or someone else?

I had the same, confusing letter  wrote asking for esa85a and LT54 figuring then I would know... still not had them... but my husband rang up for me this morning and asked for the prognosis from my recent reassessment... very nice woman looked it up and said ..... :woohoo: 36 months from 29th May , :cheer: still in support group and no medical.
To set your mind at rest, for a while anyway, ring them up and ask for the prognosis... then you'll know.

Thanks for that lindat. They've managed to confuse me even than normal because they said 12th April on the letter when I was already in the support group and I only sent my form back to them 3 weeks ago, so i've no idea why they are backdating it.

The letter itself would appear to be a standard, computer generated letter, so you can probably ignore any name that appears on it.

I would write for the attention of the Customer Services Manager.

You can also phone them, but I would still recommend speaking to a CSM, rather than the call centre staff.
