Indefinite DLA Award was created by Custbid
I had a letter today to say I have been awarded DLA High Mobility & Medium Care for Indefinite. I am confused though. I have been on DLA since 2008. I was awarded DLA as above twice for 3 years (6 years altogether). My latest award was due to end in April 2014. at the start od December 2013 I had a DLA form to fill in to continue my DLA - That's the first confusion as I thought it was moving to PIP - don't get me wrong I don't want PIP like a lot of other people, but the form was DLA and not PIP - I live in Merseyside and thought this area was already assessing for PIP. The second confusion is I have been awarded DLA Indefinite and thought they done away with Indefinite so they could assess everyone every few years. MY condition will get worse like it has done since 2008, so would be on DLA for life. Also they said I was assessed by a Health Care Professional last year who said I should be on for indefinite - I never saw a HC Professional - I need to order my next Mobility car - do I ring DLA up to see what is going on?

Hi Custbid,

You can see a DLA/PIP timetable here:

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/personal-indep...nt-pip/pip-timetable

It has been said that if you have an indefinite award you won't be contacted until October 2015 or after to move over to PIP. The timetable is subject to change depending on the progress DWP make. I hope that timetable helps you.

Hopefully another mod can advise you about the car.

Jess.

If it will make you more comfortable to ring, then you should do so, but I don't think that you need to.

There has been considerable confusion in the implementation of PIP and in particular the transfer of DLA claimants to it. The transfer in all areas was delayed by a number of weeks meaning that some claimant due to be transferred at the beginning of 2014 are now being re-assessed for DLA, further delays mean that only parts of the country are subject to transfer, so even if your area now is, it may not have been when your DLA came up for renewal.

The bottom line is that if the DWP have assessed you for DLA then this is correct, also, DLA still has indefinite awards and there is no reason, if the evidence supports it, for such an award to still be made.

It sounds as if your form and evidence were reviewed without the need for a face to face assessment, the reference to an HCP is in regard to the person who did this.

Congratulations on the award, enjoy it! You will not now be transferred to PIP until sometime after 2015 unless you have a Change of Circumstances likely to affect your award.
