DLA/PIP transition was created by jimbo57
After a number of years on DLA which has been granted for 2 or 3 years at a time my wifes latest grant is indefinite. However, because of her age she will eventually be transferred to PIP.

Does anyone know if she will have to go through the assessment renewal process again or will it be an automatic transfer as she now has an indefinite award?

Thank you.

Hi jimbo,

Claimants will be 'invited' to claim PIP when their current DLA award expires. For those with indefinite awards, they will be invited no sooner than 2015.

Jimbo

It is important for you to be aware, the qualifying criteria for PIP are very different from those for DLA, so we do not expect any but the most extreme of cases to be awarded without any assessment, the vast majority of claimants should expect to have to complete the PIP assessment forms and a majority of those will have a face to face assessment.

An indefinite award counts for nothing in regard to PIP nor does the level of your wife's award, current DWP estimates indicate that at least 20% and possibly as many as 27% of current DLA claimants may be awarded nothing after being invited to claim PIP.
