Hi
If you are turned down for DLA do you have to go through the appeals process or is there anything to stop you applying again say in a couple of months if your condition worsens? ( Northern Ireland)

If your application for DLA is refused, you can apply for PIP straight away - your condition does not have to have worsened. In fact, you can appeal and reapply if you wish but you should be aware that the result of the DLA appeal would only run until the date of the PIP decision. Like everything else to do with benefits, the Tribunal Service is labouring under the strain and appeals can take anything from a couple of months up to 1 year+!

Have a look at our appeals guides and our PIP resources and come back to this topic if you have any further questions.

Does this apply in northern Ireland where you are still required to apply for DLA - not sure if PIP is up and running here yet?

Sorry, I didn't realise that you are in NI! In that case, you can reapply for DLA straight away if you wish.
