Reducing ESA Money and in WRAG was created by celticmum
Hi There
My uncle has been in receipt of ESA for some time, he also receives Highest Rate Mobility and Middle Rate Care, in the past month he has received 2 letters one saying he is in WRAG and in receipt of the same money and the second was sent only after his money was reduced by £50 per week, we don't know what to do. He is in poor health, aged 63 will be 64 in October and this reduction has had a hugh affect on him. He should in the Support Group and not WRAG and even when he went for his interview he was asked why he was coming for one being in such poor health? Can you please advise what we should do, many thanks.

Hi cm,

I am sorry to hear this !! :(

Has your uncle undergone an ESA reassessment recently, filled in an new ESA50, etc, etc ?

If so, was he previously in The WRAG or SG ?

Does the latter letter explain why there has been a £50 reduction in his ESA ?

Just to clarify, was he in receipt of ESA prior to this recent WRAG award, or was he in receipt of Incapacity Benefit, IS or SDA and has been transferred over to ESA ?

Hi There
He was in WRAG and is still in WRAG but even the Job Centre Plus person said he could not work, he is almost 64 years old and in poor health and as you can imagine the reduction in his money is causing him distress, there has been request for further information etc just a reduction.
Many thansks for your help and support.

He needs to contact the DWP office dealing with his claim to find out why there has been a reduction in his payments, there are a number of reasons why this might have happened and it could also be an error but until we know the root cause of the problem we cannot offer any advice on how to deal with it.

Is there anything in the second letter you mention in your original post that suggests what has happened?
