ESA Support Group from WRAG decision. was created by Simbi
I put in my renewal medical questionnaire in June 2013. At the time I had been in the WRAG for 2 years. I continued to hear nothing from ATOS regarding my medical assessment. I applied for PIP in October 2013, had my assessment in March and was awarded Enhanced rate for both the care and mobility components in April this year (backdated to October 2013). I continued to hear nothing from ATOS about my anticipated ESA medical assessment, but this morning I received a letter stating that they have 'looked at your claim again following a recent change'. Then it states that [the new decision] is because of 'a decision on your work capability. You have been moved from the WRAG to the Support Group'. Great news for me (as this is really where I should have been for the last 3 years). However, it is only back-dated to a week ago! Obviously, I'm not planning on arguing this point, but if they had assessed my ESA renewal when ATOS got the form I should have had a year's extra support group money (so the DWP has saved over £250).
Hope this gives some hope to others. I assume they used my high rate mobility difficulties and the PIP evidence I submitted to make this decision without an ATOS medical (and without me chasing them too...).

Congratulations on being moved to the Support Group.
I am afraid that as this was a re-assessment initiated by the DWP, then the new award only applies from the date that the Decision was made.
