ESA medical was created by paula
Hi All
I have been on ESA since July 2014. I have received a letter to go for a medical but suffer from agrophobia. My doctor has kindly typed a letter stating this which I have faxed to ATOS. My question is wil I still have to attend a medical.
Thanks
Paula

Hopefully ATOS will agree that an assessment at their offices is inappropriate and arrange a home assessment, but the decision to do this is solely at their discretion.

Sorry Gordon but can I just ask if they don't do a home assessment obviously I won't be able to attend a medical. Will they just stop my ESA which I get because of NI contributions, and I have also just put in a form for PIP will this also be affected.
Thanks again

I am afraid that it is a possibility, if such a Decision was made, you can appeal it, which may result in a home assessment being done, but unfortunately the DWP will defer medical matters to ATOS until the claimants file is returned.

Should they decide against a home assessment then you can try involving your MP.

PIP and ESA are separate benefits, a failure in one does not mean that the other will be affected.
