There is always a risk when challenging a Decision, that the part of the award that you have received will be affected in some way. Statistically the risk is small, but that will be of little comfort if you fall into that category.

To make your decision on whether to pursue it or not you need to look at two things, how secure is the existing award; scoring 15 points is significantly better than scoring just the 12 that would result in an Enhanced award, so there is some margin of safety.

Secondly you need to look at how realistic it would be for you to score the extra 4 points for a Standard Mobility award. There are two documents to look at in conjunction with our PIP guides; the Decision Letter and the assessment report which should explain how they came to their Decision. You should have the former and the latter can be requested over the phone from the DWP.

The PIP Claim guide explains the guidance used by the DWP in connection with the prompting that a claimant might need in order to go out, you will likely need to show that you need more than this for a higher award.

I asked for mr of pip and had a phone call today from them,we went through some of the decision letter and he agreed that 2 sentences was a poor report,he said I don't need to put it in writing he also said there wasn't any back log and should receive a quick decision
