Flexible intervention interview was created by booboo1
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of what a flexible intervention interview is all about. I'm on ESA and in the support group and have received a letter today saying I have to attend an interview at my local jobcentre, although the letter does not state what the meeting is about, I contacted the DWP and they informed me that it was a flexible intervention interview.

Many thanks in advance

Gordon has written a post summarising information regarding this scenario in :

The Spotlight Area.

As advised, you can challenge them to ascertain exactly "what" the interview is pertaining to, and whether it is Mandatory or Voluntary.

You can then make an informed decision on whether to attend.

Further information can be seen in : This Topic and from the links included therein to other associated topics.

You will see more detail with respect to DWP Decision Makers Guidance and ESA Regulations on not having to take part in WRA/WFI if in The SG, and " Reasonable Adjustments" for disabled people as covered under The Equality Act 2010. (EA2010)

Just to say that I live in Norfolk and have received one of these letters, despite being in the support group. When I got the letter I presumed it was a mistake, so 'phoned the Job Centre to tell them I'm in the support group. I was told by the person who answered the phone that the interview could still be useful; I replied that the help I needed was medical, not work related, and cancelled the interview.

When the "cancelled" interview was due to take place I got a phone call from the adviser due to do the interview; I explained that I had phoned to cancel and the message probably hadn't got through. She then did a phone interview with me, going through lots of health related questions that are on the ESA application.

She told me I would get another letter in 6 months, and should phone and tell them I wanted a phone appointment. I am dreading it. I hate the phone and have ME - so brain fog can impair my ability to handle this kind of thing.

Vicky

I have to advise caution to you and anybody reading this post, in simply cancelling these appointments, Failing to comply could result in your benefit being suspended until the matter is resolved to the satisfaction of the DWP.
