PIP Assessment

This is the first time I have posted so I'm sorry if I have not done so correctly.
I made the mistake of only finding out about this site after I had my assessment. Having looked at all of the information that is available I really wish I'd known beforehand!
I'm one of the many people who have been delayed with everything since applying for PIP. I applied in January 2014, received a decision in August 2014, telephoned straight away asking for a mandatory reconsideration but still haven't had the full outcome yet. I have rang regularly chasing this only to be told I would be called within 5 days. Today I received the call and my case has been put on hold for 28 days so that I can get some further evidence from my GP to support my claim.
From looking through all of the information on here it appears that I should have received a copy of the assessment and I didn't. Is this something I needed to have asked for myself or should I have been offered it please?
Thank you.
Anne-Marie.

Hi AM,
Welcome to Benefits and Work

Did you back up your verbal request for an MR over the phone with a written request?
If not, I would do so ASAP :
Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS
You would normally have to request a copy of The PIP Medical Report from The DWP.
This MR has been going on way to long, although there is no stipulated period of how long it should take in legislation.
A complaint to The DWP and your M.P. may be in order :
Complaining to The DWP
Contacting your MP
If you haven't already done so, have a read through the following :
PIP MR/Appeals Guidance.
PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)
PIP Self Test
&
Mandatory Reconsiderations Explained
Disability Rights UK Factsheet - Appeals and Mandatory Reconsiderations.
Please reply to this topic if you have any further queries.

I did what you all told me to and it worked, thank you so much.
I requested the copy of my assessment and then sent a long mandatory reconsideration using all of your guides on here. I also enclosed copies of all of my consultant referrals for the various ongoing conditions I've got.
Previously I had been awarded nothing for daily living and standard rate for mobility. Now, after 15 months from starting this claim I am finally being awarded standard rate for both and I am happy with this. I know that I do not qualify for enhanced rate so would not attempt to claim that.
One of my conditions is depression and those people who deal with our claims seem to relish in making us feel worse. If it wasn't for finding this group I would have given up as I felt I had no fight left in me.
I know I keep saying it but, thank you all so much!
Anne-Marie Mason.
