Medical assessments for Attendance Allowance

Hi,

Are there any statistics (or is it common knowledge) regarding whether most claims for Attendance Allowance require f2f medical assessments, or are most decided on the paperwork alone? And are medical services in connection with AA still provided by Atos?

Thanks

I haven't seen any statistics for AA either way and we have few members claiming it on the forum. There was a news item some time ago about the DWP not renewing the contract for ATOS to medical support for DLA assessments, but it was not clear whether this was assessment services or the in-house medical support that ATOS were providing to Decision Makers.

I find difficult to believe that no assessments are being done given the fact that Decision Makers are not required to have any medical knowledge, perhaps they rely on AA claimants being too old to successfully mount an appeal.
