DLA Reassessment queries was created by digitalrace
Hello
Just read on your latest message that PIP reassessment to be rolled out in my postcode from 22.6.2015. I have fixed term DLA award that is due to end at end of October 2015. As roll-out in my area is in June does this mean I will be reassessed before the October end date?
Kind Regards

The DWP are using a 20 week lead time for invitations to claim PIP, by my calculations 20 weeks from 22 June would be mid November, so I would expect your renewal to be for DLA rather than PIP.
If you do not receive the DLA forms by the end of next month then you should contact the DWP.
If it is a DLA renewal, then it is essential that your completed DLA forms are returned to the DWP before your DLA award ends, if you fail to do this then your DLA claim will end and you will have no choice but to claim PIP.

Hi Gordon
Many thanks for your usual prompt reply. Wondering if you could clarify some of your comments.
1.Not sure what you mean by '20 week lead time' for invitations to claim PIP?
2.I thought that DLA had ended and has now been fully replaced by PIP but you say that you expect my renewal to be DLA rather than PIP. Does this mean I have to complete the old DLA form as part of my reassessment and is that better than PIP form and assessment process?
3.You say that if I don't receive DLA forms before end of next month then I should contact DWP. Do you mean that I should re-apply for DLA before my award ends in October 2015. I am scared to contact DWP because I am not ready and I don't want to trigger an early reassessment.
4. What will happen after June 2015 roll out in my area. Am I likely to receive a PIP2 form of an old DLA form (perhaps this question is linked to question one).
I trust that you can help with the above questions.
Kind regards

No problems
1. The DWP are using a rolling 20 week period when they invite claimants to claim PIP, this means that 20 weeks in advance of an award ending they will contact the claimant to start the transfer. More specifically they will be starting operations in your postcode with DLA claims that end on or after 20 weeks from 22 June, which I make to be 9 November, so if your claim ends in October it will be to early for it to be transferred to PIP.
2. DLA has ended for new claims by adults across the UK mainland and in active PIP postcodes. Whether PIP is better or worse for you will depend on how you are affected by your conditions, for some it may mean an increased award, for many their award will be the same, but for a significant number it is likely that there current award may be reduced or they will lose it altogether.
3. The DLA unit should automatically send you the DLA forms about 4 months before the end of your claim, if you do not receive them then you should chase them. This will be a full re-assessment of your claim, so you should complete the forms in detail and provide evidence as you can.
4. The Decision resulting from your renewal should determine when you will be asked to claim PIP, if it is another fixed term award then it will likely be at the end of this , if it is an indefinite award then you will be chosen at random, but I would expect you to have at least a year before being asked to claim PIP, but I cannot guarantee this.
Just to add to my previous advice, please use a tracked postal service when you return your forms so that you can confirm that the DWP have received your forms.

Hi Gordon
Again many thanks for your very detailed reply. The nature of my conditions mean that I have problems comprehending things. I want to make sure that I fully understand your comments and wonder if you could read my comments below and let me know if I have correct understanding. I have also added another question
1. Are you saying that I should receive a DLA form and not a PIP2 form 20 weeks in advance of my current DLA award ending 31st October 2015?
2. Am I right in thinking that because PIP rollout in my postcode starts 22.6.2015 that 20 weeks after that date PIP will become active in my postcode on 9.11.2015. If this is the case does it mean that as my award ends before that date am I right in thinking that DLA remains active in my postcode up to and including the 9.11.2015. And as advised by you I should therefore submit my claim for renewal of DLA well before my award ends in October because after 9.11.2015 DLA will not exist in my postcode.
3.As part of the management of my conditions I prepare in advance. Now that know I will be reassessed for DLA and not PIP I would like to start completing the forms and downloading the relevant guides. However I cannot find the DLA form anywhere. I followed the link on your guides which sends me to DWP site but no form is shown(only DLA for children). Can you advise where I might obtain a copy of DLA form. My original claim for DLa was in Oct 2010 and is the current form the same or has there been changes. Also can I complete form on the computer rather than by pen
Thanks in advance for your patience.
Kind regards

1. That is my belief
2. No, you must submit your DLA re-assessment forms before the award ends, because if you do not your DLA claim will be terminated and you will have to make a new claim for PIP and will receive no payments until an award is made (you would then receive back payments).
3. The Adult DLA forms are no longer available online in the UK, the following link is to an archived copy of the form, you would need to confirm that the information requested is the same as the actual form you receive.
webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/htt...orms/dla1a_adult.pdf
If not then you would have to transfer the information across. If you complete your answer on separate sheets then it should be relatively easy to link these to the paper form.
