Hi,

I successfully applied for PIP after (two) DLA claims.

For anyone attending the face-to-face:
How does your condition affect you on good days? - my response (which was honest) was I don't do "good days" simply "Bad days and worse days", I qualified this by pointing out that a non-disabled person doesn't need to overdose on pain killers to attend a face-to-face, doesn't get woken several times a night by pain but enjoys many, many hours of pain free existence - they would be "good days" and these are what I based my answers on to the questions regarding "good days", sorry folks but too many disabled people think a good day is one where they only need to take the recommended maximum painkillers to suppress the pains we suffer rather than (as I regularly do) overdose to obtain some comfort!

Could I stand up - I did (carefully). Would I touch my toes? I refused stating that if I even attempted I would need 30 minutes to get my breath back and a day in bed to recover so, on that basis (and given that their form said I would not be asked to do anything which caused me pain or discomfort) I simply didn't do it!

Would I stand on one leg? Certainly, so long as it was my (Good) left leg - but definitely NOT my right leg which I explained would cause extreme pain.

Many people follow the instructions even though they know that the longer term effects will be VERY unpleasant. Please, please don't do anything that causes pain or discomfort - DWP advice, not mine!

I was honest, truthful, polite and, whenever possible, compliant but not willing to generate pain and problems just to comply.

It worked for me and I hope it works for you! PIP for six years before the next assessment .... unless they change the rules again!
