PIP Home Visit was created by corsa40
Hi, I've written before and thanks to your site won my claim from DLA to PIP, and got the enhanced rate for care too. I also wrote that my husband was moving from DLA to PIP, and his home visit by Capita was due on 11th February. I know he was getting stressed out about this and it worried him deeply, my son was present during the visit and it seemed to go routinely the professional even checked his pulse and checked the muscle weakness in his arms. Personally with all his medical information and doctors reports etc that we sent in he should never have been subjected to this "medical", I even sent in his last 3 ESA reports. After the visit my husband said he was tired and would go to bed, we left him until about 7pm he said he still felt tired and would stay in bed, I was woken around 4am and his breathing was very difficult and he was gasping for breath. I called an ambulance and when they arrived he was conscious although slurring his words, they moved him to the side of the bed to get him into the chair to take him to hospital, his head dropped and he had stopped breathing. For 30 minutes they worked on him, and the post mortem showed a gastric haemorrhage and septic pneumonia - he was 53.
With his medical conditions which were many I feel he should not have been subjected to this ordeal and the stress and worry probably contributed to his death. Strange how he had his "medical" 18 hours prior to his death and nothing was picked up or noticed. I blame this Government for his death, and then got a phone call putting me on Bereavement Benefit for 52 weeks, as this paid me £3 per week more than ESA, then get a letter from my council saying that I had to pay £3 per week rent which cancels this out, and so have all the hassle of reapplying for ESA around the anniversary of my husband's death, stress that I don't need!!
I will however still be renewing my membership with yourselves as you are invaluable to all claimants, and I will need you again next year.
