DLA TO PIP was created by emma
Good morning everyone,
I'm in the prosess of changing from Dla to pip due to a change in circumstances (a new condition) i currently have an award of dla which is high rate mobility and low rate care.
I've always filled in my own forms with the help of this website which i find invaluable.
My current issue is i'm finding it really difficult to know what to put down for distance i can walk...mobility is by far my worst problem and i suffer with awful hip, back and leg pain and walk with a limp and any distance at all is a struggle but don't have any aids (apart from my husbands arm) i also suffer with exteme fatigue now which makes everything more difficult.

i'm worried stupidly about these dam forms.
if anyone can offer any advice i would be extremly grateful

Any distance you walk must be done "reliably". This means it must be

• Safely – in a fashion that is unlikely to cause harm to themselves or to another person.
• To a necessary and appropriate standard – given the nature of the activity.
• Repeatedly – as often as is reasonably required.
• In a timely manner – in a reasonable time period.

DLA did not use this term although the elements were something that assessors have to take into account.

Also you need to be able to perform an activity such as walking on the majority of days, so if you can only walk on some days then providing that you can show that you cannot do on more than 50% of the days in a given period then it will count for you.

The distance for a PIP Enhanced Mobility award (20m) is significantly less than that for DLA (50m), it would be worth your measuring this distance out so that you can better understand just how short it is.
