Hope some one can give me advise, my 16 year old Autistic son TK one year ago was awarded DLA for 5 years but after now turning 16 the PIP process has started and very quickly too. It has been 4 weeks from his 16th birthday to the PIP form needing to be back with them, which they received yesterday and today Atos called and left a message for TK to contact them!!!!!!!! I did the PIP phone conversation and stated he will not speak on the phone, but yet they call. However he has stated he will not go for a medical and that's that. They have had years worth of paper work and even with the PIP form loads of evidence sent in, why do they do this to them. I am very sick of it all so I hate to think how TK really feels. Anyway what will happen if he does not go for the medical as I can not make him. So very worried.
In the extreme, if he does not attend an assessment then his claim will be closed.
Would he submit to a Home Assessment? If you think he would then he/you need to speak to his GP, they need to write to ATOS explaining why he cannot attend at their offices, if they still refuse then you can try his MP, but ultimately the decision lies with the Assessment Provider as to whether an assessment is required or not.
