Hosing Benefit cancelled was created by phil
Can anyone advise. I am disabled in receipt of DLA high mob and low care. Since 2013 my ESA was stopped although I did receive a credit towards pension etc. As from now this credit has also stopped.
Today I received a letter from the council to say the DWP had advised them of the above and my small amount of Housing Benefit had been suspended. Has anyone had this happen and can I appeal to get it reinstated ?

Hi phil,

Once the housing people have been informed that an income-related benefit has stopped they also stop Housing Benefit in order to prevent an overpayment - after all, for all they know you could now be working and earning millions (if only)!.

You don't have to appeal this decision, simply contact the HB department and tell them that you want to claim on the grounds of low income. I believe this is usually a straight-forward procedure.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
