PIP for agoraphobia? was created by chrisw
Sorry if I am posting in wrong place. This is my first post.
I was receiving lower rate mobility DLA as I have agoraphobia and cannot go out alone. Then I had to apply for PIP.I was refused a home assessment so had to attend the assessment 30 miles away which of course caused great stress.I was turned down no points for anything.I have requested a MR sent in why I think the decision is wrong etc.Seen my GP who has told me to ask them to contact him rather than him just send a letter.
More recently I have lost all sight on my right eye due to a meningioma tumour (benign). This cannot be rectified.I also have another meningioma on left side that is being monitored as it is near the eye.So the sight loss had made me more anxious. So that's another reason I need someone with me when I go out.
Has anyone had success in claiming PIP for Agorophobia or sight problems?
Thanks to all for this site it had been a great help with filling in forms etc.
Happy New Year to all :)

They very rarely contact GPs.

When you get your report, look at why you got zero points and where you think you should have got points and go into your GP with your paperwork and ask him to write a letter specifically addressing the points.
Make it clear to him that the DWP are extremely unlikely to contact him, more so as they have not done so before awarding you zero points.
Your health problems are not as important as how they affect you in terms of making a claim. You need to show how you are affectd with regard to the activities and your ability to do them and cross reference your supporting evidence which hopefully will be from your GP.
