Hi. Love this site. Has helped so much with the dreaded pip process. Had a horrible experience so far. Did get awarded pip lower rate for both but believe should of got High due to all my husbands conditions. Sent mandatory reconsideration in and no change so sent an appeal submission in on 8th Dec. Dwp had to respond by 14th January. Just had a letter from hmcts saying the dwp have asked for more time to respond??? Is this normal and for what reason would they want more time?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance xx

Hi s,

It is not at all unusually for the DWP not to respond to the Tribunal Service (TS) within the stipulated time limits, and they are often allowed more time.

Sometimes they do not respond to The TS at all.

Even if they fail to respond to The TS at all, although it does not fare well on The DWP, you would still have to present your submission and argue your case to The TS Panel.

We have of course just had Xmas/N Y Year Holidays where DWP offices would have been closed on certain days where they would normally be open, so that has to be taken into account also.

Well today's the day when the extended time was up for the dwp and surprise surprise no response from them so I'm guessing the judge can decide now to go ahead without their input? Xx

Hi S,

I think that is more of a possibility rather than a probability, but you never know !

Contact The Clerk at the TS for an update.
