ESA + Pension Credit was created by jackmalanak
I have just reached the minimum state Pension Credit age.
The only income I have is ESA (Contribution Based) and DLA (Mobility & Care both at higher rates)
I do understand that this forum is not here to give expert advice on specific Benefit queries but I was wondering if anyone else has found themselves in this position, and gone on to successfully claim for Pension Credit. If so are there any downsides in doing so.
Had I been receiving ESA (Income Related) then I would have had to drop this particular claim in order to fully claim Pension Credit. Now from what I gather, I can still claim ESA (Contribution Based) and also receive a Pension Credit Top Up. Can anyone confirm this to be the case?
I have used the Governments online Pension Credit Calculator whose figures suggests I am indeed eligible for a reasonable extra amount per week.

Thanks for any replies.

Our recommendation has to be that you get face to face advice about this, but I would expect, based on the information that you have posted, for you to qualify for Pension Credit.

Gordon thanks for taking the time to reply, it's good to know at least two of us seem to think I may qualify.
I will be contacting Citizens Advice for their professional thoughts on the matter and will obviously let you know the outcome. It may well help someone else in the future.

Thanks again.
