I was medically discharged from the services last Nov (2015). I served 35 years in the military. I served in the Falklands War 1982 and served many tours of N Ireland. There is a misconception about the support one receives following medical discharge. My experience is that everything is a fight. I have been refused a medical pension and now refused compensation under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme. I suffer from PSTD and Depression. depression was one reason for medical discharge. I now have to go through various hoops to tribunal. I have lost the much of my mental cognition and the system is far from friendly. I now subscribe to benefits and work, it very good resource for benefits. But may I request additional resources to help ex military. A young widow suffering bereavement having lost a spouse in the military would find decisions turned down a burden to fight for what she is entitled too.
