PIP results and more assumption. was created by Frieda During
I had my PIP results two days ago, and I'm quite happy with the result as I lose nothing. I am very distressed though over the decision makers scoring as it is all contradictory and basically calling me a liar in places,l this I find more distressing than the assessment itself. I'm not after more money, just recognition of the truth. I have suffered from urge and frequency incontinence since my pre teens. the meds have taken the frequency away, but not the urge part. That means I don't wet myself so often and occasionally get a dry day. I learned how to disguise this from a young age, as my mother would've beaten me if she found out, then my ex husband would've made my life hell if he knew, so I've never used pads etc, the thought is so undignified. While the decision maker agreed with me about having a problem, he said that I do not need to be close to the loo, that dosn't always help matters, and scored me 2 as I have a loo frame. It's bad enough that you have to tell of your shame but calling me a liar has upset me very much. After thinking that I had a dry day yesterday I found myself standing in a puddle and soaking wet, I thought to myself that I am so glad that this dosn't happen. I had no paperwork about that problem. I use crutches to walk and it was agreed that I could move more than one meter but less than 20, I fall often, at present I'm covered in bruises, both ankles and knees dislocate and if I go down I really can't get up again, hence I never go out alone. I was happy to find that I can go shopping alone, have you tried even carrying a handbag with crutches ?? I have a wicked tremor which is all a part of my condition, meds tend to pop through my fingers and go down the plughole, also hot pans are not safe. He said that because I smoke, I can open a carton of cigarettes and remove them from the packet. I havn't smoked a tailor made since 1972 when they went up to 25p a packet. I have never been able to roll my own by hand, I use a machine that is a whole different ball game to handling tablets. What should I do, I guess if I say nothing then I'm a liar, and if I say something I may lose my award out of spite.

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I can understand why you are so upset and angry - believe me, you are not the only person to feel this way when the paperwork seems to refer to someone else altogether!

Yes, it leaves you in a bit of a dilemma - anything you submit in an effort to clarify your situation could be, wrongly, assumed to be a request for a Mandatory Reconsideration which could result in a less favourable decision. Or you could leave it and have inaccuracies on your record.

Claimants' previous paperwork is rarely referred to for future claims, so it is unlikely that anyone would look at it again. For this reason, we tend to suggest leaving well alone.

A friend of mine was in a very similar situation recently and felt that she could not let the matter rest. She wrote a letter to DWP, underlining that this is NOT an MR request and correcting the inaccuracies for the record. She has not had any problem following this - but that does not mean that someone different reading it would not decide to carry out a MR anyway!
