No the DWP do not but all banks report income sources to HMRC and they pass the information on to the DWP. To be clear they do not have access to transaction level information without a Court Order, just that a person is receiving a payment.

No the DWP do not but all banks report income sources to HMRC and they pass the information on to the DWP. To be clear they do not have access to transaction level information without a Court Order, just that a person is receiving a payment.

  			 				I'm so sorry, well they the interrogater was able to tell me he knew I had no savings! They must be able to access bank accounts but They need a court order to do so, any other info they get from cross referencing with hmrc, credit agencies, it's disgusting.

Not necessarily, the information that the banks send to HMRC is the interest you pay on savings accounts, you can back track this fairly easily to the amount in the accounts or a lack of interest being paid would should that you had none or only small savings.
