Clarification on PIP Q14 Walking around was created by Itshere
Hi I have downloaded the excellent guide from this website and it has helped immensely in filling in the claim form, I would just like to get clarification on the distance 'you' can walk...
I was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, I walk with a stick and I wear orthopaedic boots with callipers. I am able to walk, and had I not read the guide from this website I would have probably answered (b) 50-200 metres, as I walk around 200 metres a day using the previously mentioned aids. I have no balance whatsoever, am always a very slow walker and I trip and/or fall very easily at any given moment, I could fall after 3 metres or 45 metres or sometimes not at all.
Taking into consideration the advice given that 'you should not be considered
able to do something if, for example, you aren’t safe doing it or it causes you pain or discomfort or it exhausts you or you’re very slow at doing it.' am I right in thinking that (e) Can stand and then move more than 1 metre but no more than 20 metres, either aided or unaided, would apply to me, as I am slow at walking and unsafe?
Thanks in advance

Chris
I'm afraid it is not possible for us to comment, if you believe that you cannot reliably on the majority of days walk more than 20m metres then you should argue this on the PIP2 and present whatever evidence you have available to support this.
