change payment account

Hi there, I have just received a letter from the customer service center, that because they pay my benefit for dla into a post office card account, I know have to open a bank account instead. Is this compulsory, do I have a choice to leave things as they are, or have I got to go with the bank account option. Please does anyone know. Thanks

A lot of people are getting these letters. I believe the problem will come when UC is rolled out as it is not possible to pay this benefit into these accounts.
