On a recent thread a member complained about being assessed by a learning Disability Nurse(RNLD)
My wife is a qualified RNLD but not currently registered because of ill health.
Learning Disability Nurses work with Service users across the whole spectrum of LearningDisability and are trained to understand the complex needs and attendant disabilities that may affect a person with certain kinds of Disability. for example some LD with certain types of disaability have Musculor-skeletal disabilities as described by the person on the other thread.
Thertraininng involves various clinical placements including within Mental Health hospitals and working with, usually ,Older Persons with Dementia etc.
Also many RNLD;s are, like my wife, dual qualified as Social workers and need a sound understanduing of Disability nto perform Social Work dutiues'
