PIP enhanced Mobility and Driving was created by snowbird
According to the descriptors, if you can plan a journey,
you cannot qualify for the PIP enhanced Mobility component.
My question is, how does the claimant (the driver),
qualify for the PIP enhanced Mobility component.?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
There are 2 questions in the mobility section, claimant can score points in either or both. The first question deals with mental health, cognitive and sensory problems, the second with physical problems only.
This is explained in the PIP guide
PIP help for claimants

I would just add that there are reports on the Rightsnet forum that some PIP applicants are being asked if they drive and how far and then being refused PIP because they can drive. Sigh.
This is being challenged in Tribunals so, hopefully, there will be guidance on it soon.

I was asked this during my home visit and replied that I drove a fully automatic car as I could not use my left leg. I have traveled 310 miles in four months mainly to a meeting every six weeks.
I was awarded enhanced mobility
Kind regards,
Stewart.

Thank you, for your reply.
It gets confusing, understanding all these questions,
when some claimants, who were awarded DLA for Life some years ago,
are finding it difficult with these new forms.
thank you.

Dear ClareC
If this is true then everyone with a Motabiity car will have to send it back unless they have it as a passenger only.
I was asked at my recent assessment if I drove, how far, how driving affected me and how I got in and out of the car. I told them I only do about 1200 miles a year, including when my husband takes my car as it has a tow ball.
I don't have my decision yet, so don't know if being honest was 'right'. Saying that, I would not feel comfortable telling lies even though I rely on my DLA money.
