I am helping somebody to complete an Attendance Allowance form and have downloaded the guide from this site however, it does not address the fact that the "Help With your Care Needs..." questions are split into 2, namely that "I have difficulty:" and "I need help:". What is the distinction and how do I address these matters. Also, if somebody does not need help with their toilet care are they likely to be turned down. The guide seems to be a bit out of date with the current form. Has anybody had experience of completing a successful Attendance Allowance form. It seems to be a very involved and very time consuming process.
The "I have difficulty" question is about the conditions that cause the claimant to have difficulty with completing the activity, for example; due to Osteoarthritis in my knees I only have a 5% bend in the joint this cause me problems with activities such as sitting and raising my legs on to the bed at the end of the day.
The "I need help" question asks the claimant to explain the prompting, assistance or supervision that would allow them to overcome there problems with an activity, so again as an example; I need someone to lift my legs onto the bed as I cannot do this myself.
