PIPs claim aged 65 was created by Polly
My husband has been on DLA for one year and has just received his PIP form to complete. My query is:- as he is now 65 is it more or less likely that he will be called in for assessment or is his age irrelevant? He was born in July 1951. Thanks.

Hi Polly,

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Whether, or not, your husband is asked to attend a face2face will depend entirely on whether the assessor believes they have enough information to make a recommendation to DWP without.

The PIP criteria are very different from those for DLA, so please make good use of our guides throughout the process.

Polly
You dont say what level of DLA or if Care and/or Mobility.

Now your husband is 65 if there is no DLA mobility in issue he could claim atttendance Allowance instead of PIP if he has to transfer to PIP

However it would mean ending DLA (by not claiming pip) and then claiming Attendance allowance.

If your Husband does claim PIp on transfer from DLA but is not awarded it he can the claim AA because he is over 65 but there is no mobility for AA. if in receiopt of DLA Mobility now but not awarded it with PIP you may still be able to ask for an ask for MR and Appeal for mobility (because had DLA mob)but I am not sure of this because PIP Mobility would never have been in issue before 65th Birthday.
